About Vanessa
Anglers still fish the lakes off Harmondsworth Road and the pub named after them is still standing, which tells you a good deal about West Drayton after dark. Vanessa is fond of both. Slim, 173 cm, her sandy brown hair long with balayage lightening the lengths, and hazel eyes that change colour under a bar lamp. Twenty five, she dresses understated: a plain dress in a very good cut, a long coat, almost no jewellery at all.
She is calm, attentive and extremely easy to be around, with a gentleness that has nothing soft about it. She notices when a conversation is heading somewhere a guest does not want to go and moves it without anybody feeling steered. The Angler's Retreat on Harmondsworth Road is a proper local with a garden, ten minutes from the Stockley Road hotels and fifteen from the central terminals. She likes an hour there before dinner because it puts some distance between the evening and the airport, which is the whole argument for staying in West Drayton rather than on the perimeter. Vanessa travels out from Paddington, twenty five minutes on the Elizabeth line, which is the easiest journey any of the women make to this side of London. Airport bookings start at three hours with her travel counted in.

An evening with Vanessa
Vanessa builds an evening around leaving the hotel early rather than late. The Angler's Retreat is ten minutes from the Stockley Road hotels, a pub with a garden and a car park and people who have never once thought about a departure board, and an hour there resets somebody who has spent the whole day in transit. She is quiet company in the best sense: she asks a question, waits for the whole answer and then asks the next one, and it takes most people about half an hour to notice how much they have said. Dinner is back at the hotel afterwards. The last stretch of the evening is unhurried and very still, which is what she is booked for. She leaves on time, and she is on the twenty five minute train home before most of West Drayton has gone to bed.
