About Violetta
Old Bath Road is the stub of the original road west, cut off when the airport swallowed the rest of it, and the budget block at the Colnbrook end is about as plain a hotel as this side of the runway offers. Violetta does not mind in the slightest. Tall and slender at 178 cm, her black hair sleek and straight to the middle of her back, her brown eyes giving nothing away until she decides otherwise. At thirty she dresses like an adult: long dark lines, a heel she does not need, a coat that has been everywhere and looks it in the right way.
She is reserved at first and then extremely good company, with a sense of humour that catches guests off guard because they had filed her elsewhere. She has no interest in being decorative. English is her language, spoken slowly and carefully, and she is better than anyone on this site at an evening that consists almost entirely of talking. She learned chess badly as a child and now plays badly on purpose against guests who take it seriously.
Her view of the airport hotels is unsentimental: some are handsome and some are a bed beside a motorway, and the evening is what the two of you make of it either way. She will happily take a plain room on the Old Bath Road and turn it into a proper night, and she will tell you honestly which hotels have a bar worth sitting in and which do not. Belgravia is where she starts, an hour on the road at the wrong time of day, and she would rather leave early than arrive flustered. Three hours is the minimum on this side of London with travel counted inside.
Ask Hester when Violetta is next out this way and she will hold the night for you. Plain rooms, good bars and the honest difference between them: that is what the airport hotels page is for.

Booking her evening
Violetta takes a small number of longer evenings rather than many short ones, so ask Hester early. She will want the hotel name, the date and your flight time.
Her figures are the desk figures, published in full on rates, and the whole arrangement runs in one thread from the first line to the confirmation. Every frame in the hall is reached from the hall.

An evening with Violetta
Violetta is not going to pretend that a hotel by a motorway is somewhere special, and guests find that refreshing within about ten minutes. What she does instead is treat the room as a place where a real evening can happen, which most people at an airport have stopped expecting. She arrives early, she settles, and she starts a conversation rather than a routine. She is very good at the long middle of a night: politics, work, the thing you are actually worried about, a game of chess she will lose on purpose and then win when you stop paying attention. There is no small talk in the second hour. The Old Bath Road outside is dark and almost empty, the Terminal 5 traffic is a mile away, and the evening stays entirely inside the room unless you want it not to.

Written in afterwards
Nothing is written here for Violetta yet, which out here is usually what discretion looks like. A note appears only when a guest writes one, she agrees to it, and the desk has checked that it reads as a first name, a month and nothing private.
