About Nancy
Her Bath Road address sits behind a screen of trees with its back to the northern runway, and Nancy has spent enough evenings there to know which rooms face the aircraft and which face the car park. She is 170 cm and curvy, long golden blonde hair worn down, blue eyes that are warmer in person than in any photograph. At thirty she dresses without fuss and without compromise: a good dress, a heel she can stand in for hours, a coat that has been to a great many hotels and shows none of it.
She is generous company, the sort who quietly takes charge of the small decisions so that a tired guest does not have to make any. She is also entirely unembarrassed by silence, which is rarer than it should be. Her English comes in a low, slow voice that guests mention afterwards more often than anything else. She grows tomatoes on a roof in town and works them into conversation at least once an evening.
An evening with her at Heathrow runs long and slow. Dinner downstairs, a walk out to the road if the weather is kind, then back inside before the last aircraft of the night goes over. The hotel is ten minutes from Terminals 2 and 3 by road and about fifteen from Terminal 5, which matters enormously if you have an early call. Nancy comes out from Covent Garden, fifty five minutes on the Piccadilly line or an hour by road in the evening, and she plans for the worse of the two. Airport bookings open at three hours, her travel included in the figure.
Which rooms face the runway and which face the car park is the sort of detail the Heathrow page carries, and a night and a hotel sent to Hester is enough for her to settle everything else quietly.

Booking her evening
Tell Hester the hotel and whether you want a room on the runway side, because on this road that is worth asking for. She will set the start time from your landing or your alarm, whichever is tighter.
Her figures are the desk figures, published in full on rates, and the whole arrangement runs in one thread from the first line to the confirmation. Every frame in the hall is reached from the hall.

An evening with Nancy
Nancy likes a long evening and she builds it that way. Dinner first, downstairs, early enough that the kitchen is still interested. She orders well and she talks easily, and she has the useful habit of asking about the part of your life that has nothing to do with why you are at an airport. Afterwards, if it is dry, she will walk you out to the front of the hotel for ten minutes, because standing on the Bath Road at half past ten with the approach lights coming down over the hedge is a genuinely strange and rather beautiful thing and almost nobody does it. Then back inside, where the evening slows right down. She never gives the impression of having somewhere else to be, which at Heathrow of all places is worth a great deal.

Written in afterwards
Nothing is written here for Nancy yet, which out here is usually what discretion looks like. A note appears only when a guest writes one, she agrees to it, and the desk has checked that it reads as a first name, a month and nothing private.
